Day 39: don’t judge a book …

A brief digression while I give warm thanks to my lovely wife for a sage bit of advice she shared with me before I headed off to the North Atlantic:  “Remember,” she said, “the food in the grocery stores may not be necessarily the same thing as what’s on the label.”

One of my classmates, who shall remain nameless (like how I protected your identity there, Fritz?  you’re welcome), learned this lesson recently when he purchased a bottle of apple juice to quench his thirst.

What a delicious looking apple! Or not.

Alas, he opened the bottle and took a deep swig of its contents before learning — in a deeply memorable fashion — that in Icelandic, “Eplaedik” means “apple vinegar.”
